Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with the left navigation panel in a published Power BI App (Power BI Service).
After publishing the app, each report in the left navigation shows a drop-down arrow, suggesting that there are subpages available. However:
All report pages are hidden
There are no visible subpages
The drop-down does not actually function as a usable navigation element
When I click the drop-down arrow, it briefly reacts and then disappears, but it is visible again on refresh. Ideally, I would like this drop-down arrow to be completely hidden from the start, since there are no accessible subpages for users.
This behavior appears across multiple reports in the app.
My questions:
Why does the drop-down arrow appear if all pages are hidden?
Why does it disappear only after being clicked?
Is this expected behavior in Power BI Apps, or is it a known bug?
Is there any way to fully remove or suppress this drop-down indicator?
Thanks in advance for any insights.

Hi @Wojnar,
Yes, I agree with your point. The drop-down arrow in the Power BI App navigation can be confusing for business users, especially when there are no child pages to show. This seems to be a UI limitation based on the report’s internal metadata, not something we can adjust. Even if all pages are hidden or only one page is visible, the navigation still displays the drop-down arrow. For now, the best option is to keep app navigation simple and use clear report names to reduce any confusion. Hopefully, Microsoft will improve this in future updates to make the navigation visuals match the actual content better.
Thank you,
Community Member.
Wishful thinking. I’ve been working with this tool for so many years that I don’t believe in such fixes anymore. Where exactly am I supposed to report it? Another Idea that ends up in a five-year backlog?
Hi @Wojnar,
I understand your concern, the drop-down indicator can be confusing when there are no accessible child pages.
Currently, this is a UI limitation in Power BI App navigation, based on the report’s internal metadata. There isn’t a supported option to remove or hide the drop-down arrow when pages are hidden.
My suggesstion is to request improvements, you can submit feedback through the Fabric Ideas portal. You may create a new idea or upvote an existing one if a similar request already exists:
Fabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community
Currently, there is no workaround or estimated time for changing this behavior, but submitting feedback through the Ideas portal is the most effective way to bring it to the product team's attention.
Thank you.
I’ve experienced the same behavior previously. At the moment there’s no supported way to remove or suppress the drop-down arrow in Power BI App navigation, even when the report has only one visible page. The arrow is generated from the report’s internal metadata and is considered a UI limitation rather than something that can be configured.
Thanks for confirming.
I'm seeing the same behavior and it indeed looks like a UI limitation rather than a configuration issue.
It would be great if Microsoft could consider improving this, as the dropdown arrow can be confusing for business users when there are no child pages to expand
