Advocate IUnable to update permissions after Pro trial ends
Hi jiwhite,
Free user can't share or edit share permission in power bi service. Please refer to this documentation:

In your senario, you should contact your department to purchase Power BI Pro license for your account.

Hi,
All the reports and dataset you have shared with other people won't be accessed once you delete the original reports and dataset. So any data won't be leaked.

I understand your requirement, but it is not recommended to share important reports with others while you are using pro trial.
As a workaround, you can delete the report in PBI service and republish the report from PBI desktop.

- jiwhiteYes, but that’s not my point. Microsoft says that the reports will not be shared when you don’t have a Pro account. That is false.
