Hi @subhra1131101,
As mentioned by @mopowerbi If feasible, consider creating a new connection and reconfiguring the existing reports to utilize it.
If it is not feasible, Please consider reaching out to Microsoft Support. You can provide them with all the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, which will help them understand the issue better and provide a resolution. They might be able to identify something specific about your admin account setup or provide a solution that isn't immediately obvious.

I had a similiar issue.  I was only able to address it by creating a new connection.

This is the error that I am getting :

Unable to update connection credentials.
Logging into Sql server failed. Possible reasons for this error include an invalid authentication mode, a missing login in Sql server, a login from an untrusted domain or a problem contacting the domain controller for the authentication request.

Details:

abc_Gateway: Received error payload from gateway service with ID 332793: SqlException encountered while accessing the target data source.

xyz_Gateway: Received error payload from gateway service with ID 332794: SqlException encountered while accessing the target data source.

As a sanity check, I put in the wrong password, and this was the error that I got :

Unable to update connection credentials.
The on-premises data gateway's service account failed to impersonate the user.

If I understand correctly, you had an existing data source connection that connected successfully, and you are trying to update the password?

Did you update just the password and not also retype in the username?  If so, you have to reenter the username as well.

Please mark this post as solution if it helps you. Appreciate Kudos.

Yes, I am trying to update the username and password. After entering all details and clicking Save, it is not allowing me to proceed.

Hi @subhra1131101,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

1) Ensure that the SQL Server authentication mode aligns with the authentication method being used in Power BI. If SQL Server is set to SQL Authentication, but Power BI is attempting to connect using Windows authentication (or vice versa), the connection may fail. Verify and adjust the authentication settings in SQL Server to match the credentials used in Power BI to avoid authentication issues.

2) Please verify whether the Windows service account you are using to log in has standalone access to SQL Server or not.

3) Ensure the service account is not disabled in SQL Server.

Thanks and Regards

The Service Account is active, and Windows authentication is enabled.

Please explain what you mean by "service account" - is that a SQL login account or a Windows Service account or maybe a SPN?

It is  Windows Service account
