Hi @jujare - The error message you’re seeing, "Unable to update connection credentials. Invalid connection credentials", is common when Power BI Service has trouble authenticating or connecting to a web source that works fine on Power BI Desktop. Here are some steps to troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Check Privacy Level Settings:

    • In Power BI Desktop, go to File > Options and Settings > Options > Current File > Privacy and ensure the privacy level is set to Public for the web source.
    • Then, in Power BI Service, make sure the Privacy level for the connection is also set to Public (as seen in your screenshot). Sometimes mismatched privacy levels between Desktop and Service cause issues.
  2. Re-authenticate the Connection:

    • Try selecting a different Authentication Method temporarily (e.g., switch to Basic), save it, and then switch back to Anonymous. This can sometimes refresh the settings and allow it to connect.
    • Make sure to uncheck the "Skip test connection" option so it can validate the connection.

  • Ensure that in Power BI Desktop, you have the same configuration for the connection (i.e., anonymous authentication and public privacy level) before publishing.
  • Re-publish your report from Power BI Desktop to Power BI Service to refresh the data source settings.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to create a support ticket with Microsoft, especially since you have a session ID and error details ready.

Hi @jujare

According to my tests, the website data source you provided may not be accessible. Please replace it with a web data source that is accessible and try again.

Best Regards,
