Hi All,
I have a dashboard that I am trying to share with around 100 users from 20 different organisations. I am using the option to share this with "specific people" through the HTML report page.
I was successfully able to add everyone in my organisation to the dashboard. However, for external organisations, Power BI seem to accept some (Yay!) and reject some e-mail addresses. It simply shows me a warning and greys out the share button. It is really frustrating because I am able to add person X from an organisation but unable to add person Y from the same organisation to the dashboard!
P.S. I am 100% sure the e-mails I am typing in are correct (no typos or so on).
Please see the attached image of the problem. I would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks,
K
Unless the Admin has turned the feature off you should be able to share with people outside your domain. I guess it’s the “new” share dialogue that’s getting in the way.
Now when you go to "Share Report" you get a "Send Link" dialogue, click on the three dots at the top to the left of the X. From there you can select "manage permissions" . Then on the Manage Permission bar click the + next to "Direct Access". That gives access to the old grant access dialogue, where you can enter the external recipients (You’ll get a warning) then click "grant access".
Of course unless you have a Premium licence the recipient will need to have a Power BI “Pro” licence or better.
Hope this helps
Stuart
Hi Stuart,
Thanks for getting back to me on this.
I wanted to share it via a sharable link. I did not want to give dricet access to users to the report.
My question is: Can you think of any reason why it is accepting some and rejecting some user email addresses while they both come from the same external organisation?
Thanks,
K
