Hello all,
I am having some trouble with setting up alerts for in reports. We use Power BI Premium Per User, the IT gave me a Microsoft Fabric trial as well and for some reason, I still get the followinhg when clicking on 'set alerts':
"To set an alert, you need permission to create Fabric items. Please contact your administrator to request access to Microsoft Fabric."
I checked the tenant settings in admin portal and it says that the entire organisation should be able to create Fabric items. Any ideas what else can be changed?
Thanks

Hi @koralka,
I don't think this feature works with PPU it seems.
Set Alerts on Power BI Reports (Public Preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
To set Activator alerts on reports, you need:
It seems you need an F64 or higher capacity for this to work.
With the trial capacities, sometimes they are F64 and sometimes they are F4, it is possible that your co worker got an F64 trail while you got an F4 one so they can do it but you can't.
THat's the only thing I can think of.

Hi @koralka,
Even if you have a trial, the workspace needs to be assigned to that trial - by default workspaces are usually using a pro license which doesn't support all the fabric features.

Hi @tayloramy
I see, thank you. One thing though - how is it possible that the previous colleague had that option enabled? It was the exact same workspace...
Hi @koralka,
A user with a PPU license doesn't need the workspace to be on a capacity, however a user with a pro license does.

Hi @tayloramy
I've got PPU license... Hence why I don't understand why I am unable to use that function 😕

Hi @tayloramy
Thank you so much for your help!
It's interesting, as I changed the workspace capacity to Fabric Trial yesterday and the option to set alerts got enabled however, reports stopped working with and had an error related to another post here
I'll try to find an alternative.
Thanks again
Hey,
Thank you both @tayloramy @sergej_og
The 'Users can create Fabric items' is enabled for the entire organisation. The 'Users can try Microsoft Fabric paid features' is also enabled for specific security groups (I am part of that group). Not sure what else could be done 😕
Hi @koralka,
Is your workspace attached to a Farbic capacity?

Hi @tayloramy
I can see it's on Premium per-user, IT assigned me a Fabric trial... I am pretty sure that one of my previous colleagues had that option to set alerts enabled (we have the exactly same licenses)
Thank you for your help
Hi @koralka,
@sergej_og is on the right track, but it is actually this setting that you need enabled:
This is what allows you to create fabric items like Activator. Even if you have a fabric trial, without this you cannot make anything other than Power BI items.

Hey @koralka ,
this option should probably also be enabled.
There are some Fabric related options to be activated.
