I have created Dataflow using On-permises data gateway to connect to SQL sever tables. Then I have created datamart that uses that dataflow as data source. The Dataflow and datamart resides in Premium users workspace. Then I have created a report using Power BI Desktop that uses the datamart as a data source. I published the Power BI desktop report to a Pro wrospace. Now using semantic model of this report, I created a Paginated report in Power BI report builder. I published this paginated report in the same Pro workspace where the semantic model is published. I gave a pro user access to this report. But she is not able to render the report. It gives her error below. After searching for solution online, I was suggested to give access to the data sorce. I gave her access to the semantic model as well as to the workspace but the error persist. Please help.

Thanks for the reply from lbendlin.
Hi @Sham_24 ,
According to your description I have created data flow, datamart and paginated report, when granting the role of user workspace it is possible to render the paging report properly, here are my steps to do it:
1. Create a dataflow.
2. Create a datamart.
3. Create a paginated report:
4. Grant the user the viewer role.
5. Result:
Please make sure that your paginated report and datamart are both in the same workspace, and if not, give the user access to the other workspace as well. You can also try granting datamart permissions for the user.

Zhu

Thanks Zhu for your response. I am using Direct Query connection in my Power BI Desktop report. I am using semantic model of that Power BI desktop report as data source for my Paginated report. I recreated the Power BI desktop report using import connection and then used that semantic model as data source for my paginated report. Now my user is able to render the paginated report. I still prefer direct query connects due to having large dataset. So I feel like the issue is Direct Query connection.
What's the purpose of the dataflow and datamart? What happens when you point your paginated report directly at the SQL Server source?
This report is one of the 200+ reports that are currently in Webi and I am trying to move them to Power BI. Since many reports will be using same tables as data source, I am trying to reduce the connections to the table by creating dataflow. Also by creating dataflow/datamart, I can transform the data in a way that someone without deep knowledge of table relations can use them to create reports.
Fair enough. You may want to start reading up on Fabric capabilities.
