Hello - after a bit of help if possible please.
We use a shared dataset in a premium workspace to build reports via live connections. Yesterday I upgraded the workspace to be 'modern' and since then one of my colleagues has been having some problems. For myself - I am still able to publish the dataset and reports to the workspace.
My colleague however, despite being listed as an 'Admin' in the workspace, is unable to (from the desktop app) publish a dataset or even to republish existing reports (that he has previously built and that are stored in the same workspace). He is however able to connect to the dataset in the workspace via the desktop app, then build a new report (but not publish it). He can however 'Get Data' from within the PowerBI service and refresh the dataset & existing reports that way. He is receiving the below error when trying to perform the activities from the desktop app.
Anybody have any ideas or helpful suggestions as to what could be going wrong here and how we can fix it?
Thanks
Ian

Hi. That is quite a random thing. Try kicking him out of the workspace and add it again as admin. Check if he can publish any pbix in the area or the problem is just for that specific dataset (if so, there are special manage permissions for datasets)

Happy to help!
Morning - thank you for your reply.
I've removed & re-added him, he has checked if he can publish anything (not just from this shared dataset) to the workspace and he cannot (tried this after removing & readding as an admin). As it happens he was also listed as an admin on that dataset as well.
So it appears this is definitely an isolated incident to this workspace only, and only when trying to publish to it via the desktop application. As I mentioned using 'Get Data' via the service and publishing/republishing to the workspace is no problem.
Any other ideas? Guessing I will likely have to raise a ticket to support....
Thanks
Ian
hi @Anonymous
I have test on my side, it works well.
For your case, I would suggest you raise a ticket to get further support.

Lin
