Unable to publish a report connected to a datamart to web

Hello,

I have been experimenting with using datamarts in PowerBI. This seemed to go well and then I created a report in desktop that connects to the datamart. I then publish that desktop visual report to PowerBI service. This particular report does not have the option to publish to web, so the only way to embed the visual requires a sign-in.

Is this a limitation of datamarts? All of the current forum posts related to publish to web issues seem to be related to not having the governance setting turned on to allow publish to web, but I can do it for all of my other reports and have never had an issue with it.

Is there something specific to datamarts that you cannot publish reports based off of them to web?

Hi @russellj ,

It is possible that the report you created in Power BI Desktop that connects to the datamart does not have the option to publish to web because of the way the report is configured. This is not a limitation of datamarts specifically, but rather a limitation of the report itself.

The following kinds of reports aren't currently supported or available with Publish to web:

Publish to web from Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

If it helps at all I found that if I created the same report from the Datamart's "New Report" button in PowerBI service, I can embed it to public no problem. Same exact report created in Desktop and published has no option for it in service.
