Unable to export underlying data

Hi Everyone,

Users are facing issue while exporting report to Excel and selecting the option "underlying data". The error messge is "File couldn't be created. Executing the Query for the Export Data operation resulted in an error "

Anyone came across such issue? I have already raised two tickets with Power BI support for this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rahul

Hi. I get this error with some users, while others (like me) can successfuly export data. This is browser independent, we all have Build right. Please advise. Thank you

Hi, @Anonymous

If you get this error while exporting a report to Excel and selecting the option "underlying data", I think you should first check these things first:

  1. If the Power BI admins of your tenant have disabled the “export of data” option in the Admin portal.
  2. Do you have the Build permission to the underlying dataset of this report?
  3. Did the report designer has disabled this feature.
  4. Is the version older than 2016?
  5. If the tables in the model don't have a unique key.

You can check and avoid these things that may lead to the data exporting error.

If you still can not solve this problem after checking things, you can take a look at this limitation document to find if your report has other problems:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-export-data#limitations-and-considerations
