Unable to edit Data Source Credentials after publishing - Azure SQL
Both data sources in the dataset are online (an Excel file in OneDrive and an Azure SQL DB) so I don't think it is using the Gateway. I can only use SQL user and pass for the Azure SQL DB. I am happy to post more details.

What is odd is that the data is refreshing. I make changes to both of the source data and I can see the changes in both in my reports after the data refresh. Is it possible to have a partial refresh?
I've resolved the problem and I feel a bit dumb but I'm posting this in the hope that it might help someone. Removing an older Dashboard that called on the previous datasource that I'd removed seems to have resolved the issue. I'm able to refresh manually and I've jsut seen a Scheduled Refresh succeed.

All the changes that I made to the data sources were being reflected in the report but when you get an error message like that you tend to worry about what is happening. I didn't look at the reporting end; I thought the data refresh was all about the dataset end. I don't know if Dashboards behave differently to Reports and I can't conclusively say this is not coincedence. Can someone confirm that an issue with a report or dashboard can cause refresh issues?
Curious I am getting the exact same error. My data source is Azure SQL Database using basic authentication.
When I publish I get:
'Publishing successed, but the published report can't connect to the data source because we were unable to find a gateway. Please install and configure an enterprise gateway"Now, being 'Azure SQL Database' as the only data source in this report I understood we do not need a gateway installed.
Navigating to the report in Power BI Online the report has an error:
"The data source XXXXXXX is missing credentials and cannot be accessed. Show details".Clicking through to the data source, it says:
"Your data source can't be refreshed because credentials are invalid. Please update your credentials and try again."
I can manually update the credentials in Power BI Online and the data set and report come good. However, I continue to get the weird 'unable to find a gateway' error when publishing report updates.
I have tried removing all previous dashboards and reports from My Workspace. And removed global connections and started a fresh with a new Power BI Dashboard report, but I continue to get the same issue.
