Unable to download Semantic Data Model
Today I opened Power BI Desktop and attempted to build a report. I went to Get Data > Analysis Services and selected a model that we have on SSAS, and did a live connect. Everything loaded in Power BI Desktop and I was able to build a few charts and graphs no problem. I then published this pbix file to a Premium Capacity workspace that I am also an Admin on. I go powerbi.com and review the report online, HOWEVER I am no longer able to download the semantic model??? I used to be able to go to the "..." and select "Download this file". What happened that would be preventing me from downloading my semantic model that I just published 2 min ago? I used to be able to download this...
I did some research and this model is not part of a deployment pipeline, I am the creator and admin of the model and the workspace, It's not set as a "large model"
Here is what I found online....and as you can see I do not fall into any one of these items.... So why am I not able to download my Semantic Model??
Comments below I found on another post.... and my comments are in RED. As you can see I don't fit this description...
Limitations when downloading a semantic model .pbix file
- To download the .pbix file, you must be at least a Contributor to the workspace. YES I am
- Semantic models with incremental refresh can't be downloaded to a .pbix file. Not Set
- Semantic models enabled for large models can't be downloaded to a .pbix file. Not Enabled
- Semantic models migrated from Azure Analysis Services by using the Azure Analysis Services to Power BI Premium migration feature can't be downloaded to a .pbix file. Did not migrate
- Downloading a .pbix file after deployment isn't supported as part of the deployment pipeline (ALM). Not part of a pipeline
- Semantic models modified by using the XMLA endpoint can't be downloaded to a .pbix file. Not Modified using XMLA
- You can't download semantic models based on data imported from OneDrive for work or school. Not using imported data
- Downloading a .pbix file that's larger than 1 GB isn't supported. Not larger than 1GB... It's a live connect to SSAS model
- Semantic models with automatic aggregations enabled can't be downloaded to a .pbix file. You must disable automatic aggregations training in the semantic model settings and delete the aggregations tables by selecting the checkbox Delete automatic aggregations tables. This is not enabled

Hi. Before checking the considerations, let's consider prerequisites. The most important one is checking with your Fabric Administrator if the settings at Tenant allow to do this. You can prevent this action for group of people:
You can also validate it publishing a simple report connected to a file very fast. If you can't download it too, then the setting must be blocking you. If you can download the sample simple report, then there is a consideration you might be breaking.
Consider that you should check the Report considerations and not the semantic model or dataset ones. You can't download a dataset of a live connected to SSAS because the power bi dataset kind of doesn't exists. The real one is hosted at SSAS and that's not a PowerBi semantic model. If you want to try downloading the report to edit the visualizations, you can if the settings are correct, but if you want to modify the data model, you should change it over SSAS.
I hope that make sense
