Unable to create a workspace

Hi,

 

I try to create a new workspace in Power BI Service and get this error message:

 

Couldn't create the app workspace.

Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.

I use a Pro License.

I have read the reason could be a wrong configuration in MS 365 Admin center but I can't find the right place where this configuration is.

Could you tell me, whats wrong here and how to solve this problem?

Sorry, we found this error from an internal search based on your details:

External security challenge not satisfied. User will be redirected to another page or authentication provider to satisfy additional authentication challenges.

 

It seems that the permissions in AAD have not been configured successfully, causing your identity information to jump. You can contact the AAD administrator and provide this error message to him

Hi  @Flo1 ,

The app workspace is actually group, and the Power BI group is actually O365 group. The group creation in Power BI is now controlled by the group creation in Exchange Online. Generally, this error will occur when the Exchange admin have disabled it.

could you provide me a screenshot where I can find this Group Creation option in Excahge Online? We cannot find it anywhere.

Creating workspaces can to be limited in the Power BI tenant settings to selected individual/user groups. Have your Power BI admin check the Workspace settings.

Hi @m-colbert,

 

yes, we have checked that. In my Power BI admin center I enabled the option to create workspaces in the tenant settings. If we disable this option, we receive a (other) message, that "Creating Workspaces is disabled in the tenant settings". The issue must lie elsewhere.
