Unable to connect to OLE DB

Hello!

I am encountering problems when trying to connect Power BI to an OLE DB.

The error message says:

Unable to connect

We encountered an error while trying to connect.

Details: "An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'The 'MSOLAP.8' provider is not registered on the local machine.'"

Connection string:

provider=MSOLAP.8;initial catalog=Power_BI_DB;data source="http://127.0.0.1:80/xmla/database=demo_sales";update isolation level=2

(I've also tried "MSOLAP" instead of specific versions.)

The connection string is supposed to be correct because I've tested it on Excel data connections and worked just fine.

Has anyone had this issue recently or is anyone able to identify the problem?

Thank you very much in advance

Hi @JonasH,

Could you go to check if you're using the same version(32-bit or 64-bit) of Power BI Desktop and the MSOLAP provider? If not, could you try using the same version to see if it works? Smiley Happy
