Unable to change Semantic model's name; Error: duplicate name

I faced an odd problem and didn't found ANY other topics about it.

I have deployment pipeline (dev, test, prod). I changed the name of one datasets in development from "[Report name] dataset" to "[Report name] dataset Old". There were report "[Report name]" also, but I deleted it. Now I want to change this "[Report name] dataset Old" back to "[Report name] dataset" BUT THEN this problem appears. It says "Error: duplicate name" and I can't change it. But I need to change it back, because it is like "master data" and there is "[Report name] dataset" in test and prod --> need to overwrite those old datasets so I think it is mandatory to get name changed.

E: I think this error occurs because there is still "[Report name] dataset" in production (and I can see it for some reason also in development's lineage view, but I can't for example delete or rename it). There is one report from this (I mean referencing it) in dev and test, but in prod this report isn't alone, but it is with those others referencing to "[Report name] dataset".

Does anyone has anything?

If need more info, feel free to ask.

Any tips, ideas or help would be awesome, really appreciate it.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Power BI might still be referencing the old dataset name somewhere. Make sure there are no hidden references to the old dataset name in your Power BI reports or dashboards.

You may go to the model view and open ‘Manage Relationships’. Find the relationship with the error and delete it. Then try to refresh again.

If you have made changes to the table name in the database, then you need to modify the “data source” in Power BI and choose the table you want. You can do this from Edit Queries > Data Source Settings. Then reload the data.

Thank you for your response, but unfortunately it doesn't answer to my problem 😕 At least if I understood you correctly.

If I could, I would undo that when I changed dataset's name.. But I think it isn't possible?
