Unable to authenticate connection to a shared inbox

Hi all

 

I have a report in Power BI Desktop that tracks the inbound volume of some shared Outlook inboxes. I have no issue refreshing the data in Desktop but when trying to publish to Service I get a "cannot be added to gateway" error under 'gateway connections', and when I attempt to create a connection, the 'authentication method' is greyed out - no option to authenticate the connection.

 

Could be a permissions issue but checking here first to see if there's a known fix.

    Hi AlexNZ ,

     

    Could you please provide a screenshot of the 'cannot be added to gateway' error? I've made a test but was unable to reproduce the issue because, under normal circumstances, Exchange Online as a data source does not require the use of a data gateway.When I uploaded the report to the workspace, a personal cloud connection was already added, and its status was normal.

     

    However, you still need to update the credentials. If you encounter ''Failed to test the connection to your data source. Please retry your credentials.' warning . you can follow the instructions to modify your credentials.
