Unable to Access Shared Workspace Despite Admin Rights

Hello Power BI Community,

 

I'm facing an issue with accessing a shared workspace in Power BI Service and would appricate any guidance you can provide me. Both my friend and I have individual pro licenceses and use "onmicrosoft.com" emails for our Power BI accounts. My friend has recently added me as an admin to one of his workspaces. However, I am unable to see his workspace in my Power BI Service (or in desktop when publishing)

 

Here are the key points:

  • Both of us have active Power BI Pro licenses.
  • We are using "onmicrosoft.com" email addresses for our accounts.
  • I have been added as an admin to the workspace.
  • Despite this, the workspace does not appear in my Power BI service.
  • We have already checked for any possible typographical errors in the email addresses.
  • Logging out and back into the service has not resolved the issue.

 

I am wondering if there might be a delay in permissions updating or if there is a specific setting that we might have overlooked. Any insights or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your response. 

 

We are not part of same organisation. I checked and my license is Premium per User, theirs is Premium Capacity. 

We followed exactly same steps in your guidence blog, a few days ago, however workspace is still not reflected to my "workspaces". I can see it under "From External Tabs". But as an admin of the workspace, should not I be able to access the workspace under "workspaces" menu? Because current situation is not allowing me to publish desktop files into the workspace.

are you using the account of same organisation?
if yes then see if there is any report in that workspace and the workspace is available for other people to use, incase you have pro license and your friend has premium license. sometimes it take time to reflect but i dont think it is the problem in your case.
