Trouble Embedding ArcGIS Map in Sharepoint

I've successfully added a reference map to an ArcGIS visual and can view the map no problem on app.powerbi.com.

The "Embed and publish check" also validates with no issues on the desktop application.

However when the PowerBI report is embedded in Sharepoint the ArcGIS visual shows an error indicating "This map does not meet the requirements for embedded reports. Learn more"

Any thoughts on where the disconnect with Sharepoint might be since everything else with PowerBI seems fine?

Here is an older thread on the same topic- no real resolution though.

Not sure if this is an option for you, but I've started looking into Icon Map as a possible replacement for ArcGIS with Power BI.

Icon map looks great! Unfortunately it seems a bit tough to mix and match multiple layers. I'm trying to plot points as well as polylines and it looks like icon-map can only do one or the other.

Hi @klimmy23 ,

What is the source of the reference map? I'm not totally clear if the Validate process is the same for Publish to Web and Embed, but here is the documentation on Publish to Web validate which does not support custom layers.

You might need to double check with ESRI. I'd be interested to know what you find.

In the Embed and publish check pane, click Validate.

The check verifies that all requirements for publishing the map have been met. These include the following:

  • Power BI location data is in latitude and longitude coordinates.
  • The map contains only publicly accessible layers from ArcGIS.
  • No layers contain secured or premium content.

Thanks for the input! I actually just removed the reference layers and noticed that I'm still getting the same error message, so now I'm even more lost as to why Sharepoint won't permit any ArcGIS visuals at all.
