Transaction Process ID 183 was deadklocked on lock resources with another process

HI, 

New to BI here so bear with me.  We are using mixed data model with some direct queries hooked to one of our warehouses (SQL).  My data team is asking whether or not BI writes temporary tables or caches data in  a way that would lock the server up as we are getting this error.  We thought BI would be read only when using the direct queries.

    Hi aabbondanza 

     

    When using DirectQuery this can lock up the underlying system because it has to generate its own query which at times would not be optimized.

     

    I would suggest working through this with your DBA to find an ideal solution.
