To be able to disable the Explore this Data feature

Users are able to access data via Apps from the semantic model/dataset! This is a big concern from data security prespective!!! Pls allow to disable regular user to be able to use this function if they do not have the build permission...

My users don't have build permission but can still see the data via the explore feature. Is there any way around this?

There's a new setting in the tenant admin that provides at least some relief.

This doesn't seem to change anything for us

Hi @Maggie_Chan ,

Thanks for @lbendlin and @audreygerred reply.

@Maggie_Chan There are two questions I want to confirm with you.

#Where does the user open the report?

#Where do you assign permissions to semantic models?

As @audreygerred  mentioned, I recommend checking the permissions of the semantic model. Only users who have build permissions on the semantic model can use the explore data feature. If a user is a contributor to a workspace, he will still be able to use this feature even if you have disabled the build permission for him separately somewhere.

Not just that, Explorations also register as Fabric items even on Premium capacities.  We have raised a complaint to Microsoft but they fail to see to issue so far.

Build access is needed in order to use this feature: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/explore-data-service#considerations-and-limitati...
