Hello,
Just wondering if there are some tips / online resources on how to optimize the size of an Excel file that contains Power Query. In particular:
1. Is there any setting we can turn on / off in query settings / properties?
2. If we do not load the tables to the Excel sheets, does it help reduce the size?
3. Any other tips to save file sizes?
Currently my files are around 7-10MB but for backup reasons I need to keep old copies. Yes I know Excel has version control, but I am not so trustworthy of it. Had some bad problems with unrecoverable edits before.
HI @freelensia ,
#1, I'm not so sure what setting/property you mean, can you please explain more detail?
#2, It is impossible to use excel connector to achieve this, maybe you can try to use odbc connection with query filters.
#3, You can take a look at following link about reduce excel file size methods:

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I am asking for tips to reduce the size of Excel files with power queries, not Excel files in general.
The examples I gave are just some imaginary settings I have in my head. I am not sure if they exist.
If you have any ways to reduce Excel files with power queries inside them, that would be very helpful.
