The query has exceeded the available resources
- 10 months ago
Hi hughcjohnson ,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.
Thank you MasonMA for the prompt response.
If your visuals worked for months and suddenly began showing “query has exceeded available resources” without any data growth, the issue is likely on the Power BI Service backend, not in your model. This usually happens when your dataset lands on a heavily loaded shared-capacity cluster or during backend updates. The problem often lasts a few days and then disappears when the service rebalances.Try doing a full dataset refresh (moves it to a different node), check service health, and if the issue continues, raise a Microsoft support ticket by using below link, so they can move you to a healthier cluster.

Thank you Mason. It is a good checklist. However, the problem is that these (many) visuals have been running fine for months, then suddenly many of them exceed the limit. This happened before, the problem remained for a few days, then went away. I spent hours optimising some, with some improvements, but the problem simply disappeared a few days later anyway. It led me to suspect that it was more related to an update on the service, or something else.
