The GCP databricks connection in power bi gateway will be offline after certain days

The GCP databricks connection in power bi gateway will be offline after certain days (around 7 days)
we have configured Power BI gateway through organization account. we have premium license.
after certain period of time (within 7 days) the power bi gateways goes offline without any intimation in server.
Because of this, whatever has configuring the reports in server using this gateway which is refreshing got failed. then we have to login and redo the credentials. Then it will be back to online.
The Gateway configured using our organization account.

Hi @Julie01,

This issue often happens when the Power BI gateway is set up with an interactive organizational account rather than a dedicated service or technical account. Many organizations have security policies like MFA, sign-in frequency, or session lifetime limits for user accounts. Because of these, the gateway’s authentication token can expire after several days (usually about 7), causing the gateway to go offline and fail to refresh reports that depend on it.

Even with a Premium license, the gateway might not always renew expired tokens for certain connectors automatically. When you sign in again and re-enter credentials, a new token is created, bringing the gateway back online. This is normal when using a user account that needs periodic re-authentication.

The best practice is to use a dedicated service account for both the gateway and the Databricks connection. This account should not require MFA and should be exempt from sign-in or token expiry policies. For GCP Databricks, use a reliable authentication method such as a Personal Access Token (PAT) or service-account credentials, and store them in the gateway’s data source settings. Also, make sure the gateway Windows service runs under a stable service account, not a personal user account.

Switching to a non-expiring, policy-exempt service account will keep the gateway online and prevent scheduled refresh failures every few days.

Thank you.
