Switching from PPU to Premium Capacity P1

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has experience of moving from PPU licencing to Premium Capacity.

Currently our whole tennant is running PPU (everyone has a PPU licence). We are however reaching the tipping point where it makes sense to switch to P1 Capacity.

Is it just a simple case of:

1) Purchase P1 Capacity.

2) Setup capacity as default for tennant.

3) Cancel existing licences apart from those for developers.

Am I missing anything?

Thanks

Ben

Hi, @bcdobbs

PPU and P1, they are separate Premium capacities entirely. If you have a PPU workspace then everyone needs PPU license to access versus a P1 capacity, any Power BI license can access to view reports, Free, Pro or PPU. If all of your users have a PPU license then you wouldn't technically need to P1 instance in theory.

If you want to convert to P1 capacity now, your steps above are correct.
