We've a cube we manage in visual studio
This is deployed with a database name of "reports_data".
We've two PBI reports "Report 1" and "Report 2" created in desktop that use the same dataset, "reports_data"
Publishing in the service creates a dataset for each report.
How can I move report 2 onto the same dataset as report 1, so I only have 1 dataset ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
If I am following you should be able to connect to the dataset if it has been published via 'Power BI Datasets', and yes you would need to recreate anything you wanted to move to a new report sourced from that dataset.
@AndyDD_UK Are you using Live, DirectQuery or Import mode?
Thanks Greg, direct query
I believe you would need to publish the dataset by itself to the service then connect to that dataset as a live connection for each report, it sounds like you are building each report on top of the dataset rather than connecting to it. When you publish the dataset by itself it will generate a front end report view, delete that and just have the model reside in the datasets tab.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, how do I connect to that dataset though ?
I can see that I can create a report from the dataset, should I create a new report from the one dataset and copy-paste my pages into that (calculations are in the cube but I am using filters and drill throughs) ?
