Sudden Invalid Snowflake credentials Error on Power BI reports published on the service
- 1 year ago
Could I suggest chatting to your snowflake administrator to see if there have made any changes blocking the cloud connections?
Hi sanjyot_firke,

Thank you GilbertQ for the helpful response.
please follow below steps to Invalid snowflake credentials error;
1. Make sure the service principal used for the connection has the necessary permissions in Snowflake.
2. If you're using a gateway, confirm it's correctly configured and updated.
3. Check both Snowflake logs and Power BI activity logs for any authentication or connection errors.
4. Even though the credentials are unchanged, try refreshing or re-entering them in the Power BI Service to resolve potential issues.

Thank you Anonymous for the tips.
We are working with the snowflake team and the IT team for this issue. However, they are also unable to find any issue in their settings.
We even checked the network policy and nothing seems to be changed from the company's perspective.
Inshort, still trying to find the root cause of the issue.

Hi sanjyot_firke,
Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Community Forum.
Since Snowflake and IT teams haven't found any changes, try these additional steps to identify the root cause:
1. Create a new Power BI report, connect directly to Snowflake, and check if it refreshes in Power BI Service.
2. Sign out and re-enter credentials under Settings → Datasets → Data source credentials to resolve potential token expiration issues.
3. Run LOGIN_HISTORY queries to look for failed authentication attempts and Go to Dataset → Refresh History to check for errors.
