Subscription in Power BI Service
Hi mjsystemss
In the Power BI Service, the subscription scheduling options are currently limited compared to those available in Power BI Report Server (PBIRS). While PBIRS allows for highly customizable schedules—such as bi-weekly deliveries, the last Friday of the month, or specific day combinations like the 15th and last Friday—Power BI Service only supports basic frequencies such as daily, weekly, and monthly. There’s no built-in way to define complex recurrence patterns or conditional scheduling (e.g., “every other Monday” or “last Friday of each month”) directly in the Service interface. To achieve similar functionality, you can either (1) create multiple subscriptions with different dates that together approximate your desired schedule, (2) use Power Automate to trigger report exports and email deliveries on specific days or recurrence rules, or (3) use dynamic per-recipient subscriptions (if your environment supports it) in combination with external scheduling logic. Unfortunately, unless Microsoft expands the subscription options in Power BI Service to match the flexibility of PBIRS, complex schedules must be handled through automation or creative workarounds outside the standard subscription interface.
