Hi All,
I'm having an issue with email subscriptions for a Power BI report. I have a Power BI report that uses a DirectQuery connection to Azure Analysis Services and I set up an email subscription to send out emails after the data refresh. However, the report refreshes properly with new data but the email subscriptions are not being sent out.
I have a Pro license and have tried setting up subscriptions for only myself and for multiple users, but none of them seem to be working. I have another report using a live connection (a different cube) and the email subscriptions are working fine.
I'm not sure if that's caused by the composite model, but I also tried clicking "Refresh" on the PBI desktop and it didn't work. Any insights or suggestions on resolving this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi mdc7
When you setup subscriptions in the service to run after data refresh, it is limited to being sent out once a day. How often is your refresh running?
As an alternative option, you may look into using Power Automate for your refreshing and scheduling: Refresh your Power BI dataset using Microsoft Flow | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI
You could create a flow to refresh your dataset on a custom schedule, and after a succesful refresh send an email that links to the report, or even exports the report to a file attachment.

Hi Jonvoge, thanks for your reply!
The refresh runs once a day and I've tested the email subscription for a couple of days and I've never received any emails (checked the spam folder and added the Power BI email alias). However, I've tested the email notification on the report using Live Connection instead of the DirectQuery query mode and the subscription worked. We have to use the composite model for this report to leverage the field parameter function and would appreciate any suggestions on getting the email subscriptions worked for composite models.
