Hi guys,
I am wondering if any of you have used the "subscribe" function to automate weekly email for PowerBI reports (see screenshot below)
So I emailed about 50 people using this function and they received automated messages today by email (with the link to the report). Below is the setting I set up. I did not enable the permission to access the report in the setting, because all of them have access to Power BI reports under the same organization.
Then, I started to get emails from people that they need permission to access the report. Below is what they see.
So I looked into this, and apparently, they also need separate access to the report. I should have enabled access from that checkbox. Once I gave permission, these people went under the "direct access" list with "read" permission only.
My colleagues in the office say that I need to use the sharing "Links" function and put these people there, but I am reading up on this direct access function and I find that "direct access" is just as secure as "Links" as long as they only get "Read" permission. RLS is in effect. The only difference I found is that people with direct links won't be able to find this link when they go "shared with me" folder.
I want to avoid sending another email giving them a new link at this point by using sharing "link" function. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you in advance!

Hi @powerBI2000
You can grant people access to the report, in the option when granting access you just do not enable to option to send a notification email as shown below.
You will have to go into the Advanced sharing settings, then Add a user/group with direct access.
