Hi,
I have received a request to share a Power BI report with specific users using a password-encrypted file. Users are required to use a shared password to access and open the report.
Is there any workaround to achieve this?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi @Dhinesh ,
Power BI does not natively support password-protected reports.
You can use the Secure Embed method to share your Power BI reports. This method allows you to embed reports in a secure manner on a website or portal. However, this does not provide password protection.

You may also securely send credentials in your Power BI reports. This involves creating a new data table with the parameters you want, and then creating a new measure that uses the parameter values to calculate a result. However, this method does not provide password protection for the report itself.

As a workaround, you can manually password protect your report by exporting it as a PDF, and then applying password protection to the PDF. This method requires additional steps and tools outside of Power BI, but it does provide password protection for the report.

Hi @Dhinesh ,
As @v-xiaoyan-msft pointed out, there is no way to create a password, but when you are publishing your report, you can easily decide who can access your report or specific area in the report by publishing the report as an App in the PowerBi Platform (which is the recommended way to share the reports).
When you have one or more reports published to your workspace and you want to share these with other people, then you just use the 'create app' button and then you can decide which reports will be published within this app (this way you can combine multiple reports into a single app, so all will be accessible from a single link) and then one of the steps is Audience where you can add the list of users who have access to the app. You can create multiple Audiences and then turn on/off access to specific reports within the app for each Audience, so this way you can decide who can view specific content.
