Subject: Custom Font "Manrope" Not Rendering Properly in Power BI Service on Other Machines
- 1 year ago
This is a common challenge with custom fonts in Power BI Service. While Power BI Desktop allows local fonts like "Manrope" to render properly on your own machine, the Power BI Service does not support custom or locally installed fonts for web rendering across different users’ devices. Instead, it relies on web-safe fonts or fonts explicitly supported by Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure.
Since "Manrope" isn’t one of the natively supported fonts, it will fall back to a default font on machines that don’t have it installed, which explains the inconsistent appearance. Unfortunately, Power BI does not currently support embedding fonts directly in reports or via themes in a way that enforces consistent rendering for all users.
The only reliable workaround is to stick with widely supported web-safe fonts (e.g., Segoe UI, Arial, or Verdana), or if branding is essential, you can consider creating visuals with your custom font in tools like Illustrator or Figma, then embedding them as images. This, however, limits interactivity. Microsoft may improve font support in the future, especially with Fabric's evolution, but as of now, consistent rendering of custom fonts like Manrope across users isn’t possible in Power BI Service alone.
Hi dilipyadavEntuj ,
Thank you for being a part of the community. You're correct Power BI Desktop can show locally installed fonts like Manrope on your own device, but the Power BI Service doesn't support custom or local fonts for all users. It only uses a set of web safe fonts supported by Microsoft cloud platform.
As you mentioned rohit1991 , the best approach is to use common fonts such as Segoe UI, Arial, or Verdana to keep the look consistent for everyone. If your branding needs require a specific font, you could create static visuals in programs like Figma or Illustrator with your preferred font, then import them as images into Power BI. However, this will limit the interactivity of those visuals.
Please try the alternative workaround and let me know if it works for you. I can provide more information if you need it.
Thank you for your prompt reply, rohit1991 .
