Stop users from requesting access to reports/app directly
Hi,
We have few PowerBI reports where the user accesses are all managed through Active directory groups.
But users who are accessing the report link directly clicks on the "Request Access" button and the mail triggers to all admins.
We are trying to avoid this scenario. We do not want the users to directly request the access from the report but instead follow a set of rules/standard procedure to request access to the AD group through tickets.
So is there a possibility to disable the popping up of request access button when they try to access the report?
Or is it possible to show a customized message to the user when he tried perform a direct access request?
Any assistance here is appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

Hey Anonymous ,
On the dataset, go to settings and then to the Request Access option where you can modify the instructions:

Hi collinq,
This is just the answer I was looking for. However, our organization controls the publishing in a separate area. I will need to lead them through this process. Can you tell me where the publisher would find the Request Access selection?
To put this in context, we have an Outlook Distribution List (DL) to control access to the dashboard. Right now, anyone who clicks on the link will trigger a request to the publishing area. We want to have the message pop up that then need to contact John Doe in the XYZ dept. to request access.
Thanks,
Michael

Hey Michael_Hunter ,
This message is in the semantic model settings option - select the elipses and then select the "Settings" option:
And then select the "Request Access" option to modify this.

Hey Anonymous ,
I'm wondering how users get access to a report initially?
I suggest that you use Power BI Apps to share your content, meaning the reports.
Here you can then uncheck resharing.Of course, if someone shares the link of the app, then people still can request.
For now, it's not possible to tie request access to become a member of an AAD security group.Regards,
Tom
