Status 400 Error when setting up an SQL Gateway on Power Bi

Hi I am getting the below message when creating a new connection to an on prem SQL database via Power BI. I'm using the same credentials and setup that work on another connection to the same on prem sql server but on a different sql database. Unfortunately I can't find any difference or see any logs to give me a clue as to why are where the error is coming from. Any help would be appreciated. The credential setup is basic username and password with organisational privacy level.

So in the end it was the authentication method on 365 needed to be identical to what i was using on Power BI Desktop. So simple when someone points it out !!!!

Hi @afarlo79

Could you make sure that you are running the latest version of the Gateway software?

Also can you confirm that the user account has got access to the SQL Database?

Hi @GilbertQ

Running the latest version of the Data Gateway Software 3000.174.13 (May 2023).

The username used has full access to the database. Just to be sure I logged in to the on Prem SQL Server with the same username and was able to run queries on the SQL Database.

Hi @afarlo79

Could it be possible that the Gateway server cannot connect to the Internet via https?

Hi @GilbertQ I think if the Gateway server could not connect to the Internet via https then all our other services would be blocked as well. However, we have another database on the same SQL Server that has no issue connecting via the Gateway to Power BI, thats the frustrating part. Not sure where I can look at logs that would possibly identify the issue.

So in the end it was the authentication method on 365 needed to be identical to what i was using on Power BI Desktop. So simple when someone points it out !!!!

What do you mean it has to be the same? Mine is the same and Im getting the same type of issue.
