Solved: Stacked column chart colours different in service

I've just set up a stacked column chart with 20 different colurs specified in the pallete 'columns>colours' section.

When i upload the report however, the service displays completely different colours!

what on earth could have gone wrong?

Are you looking directly at the report in the service or are you looking at it via a dashboard? If the latter, dashboard themes can override report design:
