Sort arrows have changed to black?

Today the sort arrows on all tables and matrix visuals have randomly changed from white to black in the Power BI service. I am using a dark theme for all of my reports so the arrows are no longer visibile.

Does anybody know how to change these back?

  • Hi MP321,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

In powerbi desktop, the sort arrow colour is white but in powerbi service it has changed to black colour, this could be due to a recent power bi service update that unintentionally modified the UI styling of sort indicators. It could be a temporary issue or regression that Microsoft needs to address.

To make the sort arrow visible, in the visualizations pane --> format visual, under column headers, change the background color to a different color rather than black, so that the sort arrow is visible.

If this did not resolve your issue, I would recommend to please raise a support ticket.

I noticed this same thing started happening today (02/26/2025) across all reports in PBI Service (not just my reports)... The sort arrows have all changed to black (when they were white before) as well as in slicers, the drop-down list arrow has also changed to black (instead of previous white), so is very hard to see those arrows on a dark color background.  I have changed nothing within any of my reports, nor have I republished any recently.  The reports in the Desktop still show the white arrows, so I am guessing there is potentially a bug in the PBI Service, possibly related to a February release?

This is happening across all reports in my organisation including reports that aren't mine. I have checked online but I can't find information on it.

Entering a support ticket with Microsoft may be your best bet. At the vary least, they will be able to confirm if it is a known issue or not

It may be limited to viewing the reports online.  They still show colors in Power BI Desktop for me, but online, all icons are BLACK.  This needs to be addressed.

  • Since the colors are still appearing correctly on Desktop, try re-publishing the report to the service and see if that fixes it.

  • Also, check to see if any updates were applied today. Perhaps it was the result of a intentional change or an unexpected bug
