Something went wrong. Failed to publish app

Hi,

I am tring to update the app from the workspace and I am getting "failed to update app".

The following are the error details:

Activity ID: e80f64a6-46e9-4730-a0ae-93bc5f7bfabf
Request ID: 9a02db56-8fef-3b19-f052-67e99e1266a3
Correlation ID: 0c0ca018-d4dc-47d2-a878-9289076d0dcf
Time: Tue Sep 06 2022 11:25:28 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)
Service version: 13.0.19087.26
Client version: 2209.2.13145-train
Cluster URI: https://df-msit-scus-redirect.analysis.windows.net/

Please let me know what can be done because this is preventing the app from having the latest changes to the power BI report and hence team is having issues accessing the latest reports.

Thanks.

Hi, @apoorvamanda

According to the [Request ID] you provided, we can check your error message in the background database log system as follows:

"TIMESTAMP": 2022-09-06T18:25:27.7897118Z,

"EventText": Exception object created: Microsoft.PowerBI.ServiceContracts.PowerBIInvalidDataException: An error occurred in the Entity Framework(wrapped: SqlException/Invalid data - There is a report included in the export definition that is missing a url.)

You can check the following:

(1) Check in the workspace whether all the reports that need to be added to the app are displayed normally.

(2) Check whether all report Urls are configured correctly under "Navigation" in "Update app".

(3) Check whether there are invalid users in the group configured in "Permissions".

If the above methods can't help you solve the problem, can you provide your detailed configuration steps and error messages?

Best Regards,

Aniya Zhang

Hi @v-yueyunzh-msft ,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I have checked on my end all the three points that you mentioned.  Everything were right however, there was an issue with loading or display of one of the report in the app. The following are the details :

Error - "Power BI was unable to load the report because the report definition is inconsistent. To fix this issue, republish your Power BI Desktop file to update the model and metadata in power BI".

I have tried republishing the desktop file but still I am getting the same issue.

Can ypu please check on your end and let me know what is the exact issue based on the details I gave?
I am guessing, if this report issue is fixed then the app can be published/updated correctly.

Hi, @apoorvamanda

I have tested on my side, but not reproduce the issue. And I also searched for a long time, but not find any similar documents or post. Just from the error message, it needs you to republish it.

You can try the following steps:

(1) Modify the .pbix file name and try to republish

(2) Copy the original .pbix file and use the new .pbix to publish

(3) Create a new workspace and publish to the workspace you created

Best Regards,

Aniya Zhang
