Snowflake ODBC Power BI Gateway
Hello
I am running into an issue I could use some advice on. This is our scenario. We are moving to Snowflake and currently have a bunch of Power BI reports. We have found many use cases for Paginated reports. I am finding that trying to use the native Snowflake connector in Power BI Report Builder to be very clunky.
We have installed the Snowflake driver on our Gateway, however I am not having any luck creating the ODBC Snowflake connection. Everytime I try to create it, I get an invalid credentials error. The report I have built runs fine within Power BI Report Builder, which is using my local Snowflake ODBC connection.
Is there anything we need to specifically do on the Gateway, other than installing it? Do we need to have a System DSN?
Thanks for your help!
Dave
Definitely configure a System DSN rather than a User DSN on the Gateway. A System DSN is available for all users on the machine, which ensures that the Gateway service (which typically runs under a system account) can access the DSN.
Also, check the Gateway service account permissions to ensure that it has access to the ODBC data source. If the Gateway is running under a different account than your local user account, there may be permission issues.
You can test the connection directly on the gateway using Powershell, SQL workbench or ODBS Data Source Administrator
