Slow performance when publishing reports via public link in Power BI Premium (PPU)

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing significant slowdowns when sharing my Power BI reports via public links, even when these reports are built from scratch with minimal data. I’m using Power BI Premium per User (PPU), and everything works fine while developing the reports. However, as soon as I publish them using public links for external clients, the visualizations take a long time to load.

Some additional details:

  • My reports have minimal datasets and simple visualizations.
  • The issue occurs even with new reports created from scratch.
  • The reports work fine internally, but the slow performance happens only when accessed via public links.
  •

I’ve already checked my network connection and cleared the browser cache but the problem persists. Could this be related to Microsoft’s servers, or is there something I can do to improve performance for reports shared via public links?

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I'm having the same issue.  Only with public links.  We do not have premium license.  The reports work fine when accessing in the service, but not the public link.

Hi @Ramirodiz

This could be because when using the Publish to Web link (public links) it uses different hardware which is used for a lot of other users to share public information.

If you want it to be faster you need to share it with the Sharing link in a report or app. Then each user would need to have a Power BI PPU license to view the reports.
