Slicers within rectangle filled shape - when I select shape, slicers disappear??
Hi all
I have set up my Power BI reports to all have a filled rectangle shape at the top. I then add slicers within this rectangle, to have a common area where users will always find slicers. I have set the filled rectangle shape to 'Send to back' from Format options
Now, if users accidentally select the rectangle instead of one of the slicers in PBI service, all the slicers disappear.
If the user then moves the mouse away from the rectangle, the slicers reappear.
If the user then moves the mouse to one of the slicers, the slicers will remain visible. However, if the user moves the mouse to an area of the rectangle where there is no slicer then the slicers disappear again.

Just wondering if this is a bug, or have I set something up incorrectly? Should the slicer 'shape' on the report canvas be bigger/smaller?

Yes, for your scenario, if you select the rectangle instead of one of the slicers, the slicers will disappear and the shape will highlight, this is a default behaviour.
By my tests, there are two workarounds which may help you.
1. Set the size of the slicers to filled the rectangle shape so that you won't click the other space of the rectangle.
2. Adjust the Background Transparency of the rectangle shape like below.
You could have a reference of my test pbix which has been attached below.

Hello there !!!!
Seems like it's a layering problem. You need to lower the shape layer and put the slicer layer upward. To do this, go to :
View > Choose 'Selection' , (the selection panel will show up) > go to 'Layer order' > Drag the shape layer downward.
That's it. 🙂

Quick Fix
- First Group the slicers only.- Create a new group that only includes the Shape with another temporary item (button or anything we'll delete this later)
Now group these 2 groups.
Make sure the Slicer group is on top in the selection pane. delete the temporary item from the second group.
Now you should have two groups inside one group. One contains all the slicers that is on top in the selection pane and the second group which only contains the background is below.
