Slicer with an hierarchy

Hi,

In our dashboard we have one slicer with a hierarchy of 3 fields.

When our last field is empty it is now showed as (blank), but nog userfriendly because our users do not understand that. We will change that, in case last field is empty for this hierarchy that is won't show.

I'll give an example:

> level 1 : type A

          > level 2 : type AB

          > level 2 : type DC

> level 1 : type Z

          > level 2 : type XY

                   > level 3: type XYR

                   > level 3: type DRT

          > level 2 : type TC

                   > level 3: type PLC

In the first example we have only hierarchy untill level 2, nothing on level 3. But Power BI shows it as (blank).

Is there a way we can hide that?

kind regards,

Hi @Anonymous ,

There are many levels to this issue.  The "blank" might be there because there is data below that in the hierarchy.  For example, I have a slicer with Country, Region, District.  If I look at it at only the first two levels, I see blanks:

But, if I remove the "blank" then I am removing data - because I have level three's that are not associated (and are therefore under "blank")

Therefore, just removing "blank" from the slicer will remove lots of options.

The best choice is to structure your data so that it is consistent throughout.

You could always use the filter and remove the "blank" but that will have a strong possibility of causing you data issue.
