Slicer selections reset after browser refresh when report is viewed in App

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with slicer persistence in the Power BI Service.

When I use my report directly in the workspace, my slicer selections remain even after I refresh the browser page — this is the expected behavior with persistent filters.

But when the same report is viewed as part of a Power BI App, the slicer selections reset back to the default state whenever I refresh the browser.

I’m not sure if this used to work differently, but it feels like the slicer selections made by viewer should stay even after browser refresh.
Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

  • Persistent filters are enabled for the workspace.

  • This behavior only happens inside the App.

  • I haven’t changed anything recently, so I’m not sure whether this is normal App behavior or a regression.

Questions:

  1. Do slicer selections normally persist in Apps after a page refresh?

  2. Is there an App setting that controls this?

  3. Has anyone experienced slicer persistence working in Apps before?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Then it sounds more like a browser cache malfunction for that user. Wasn't there a change in the persistent storage policy too?

@suhayl_qodirov,
Try opening the app in incognito mode. Browser cache affects the performance or rendering many times.

Also, make sure persietent filters is checked in the underlying report.

Note: AI helped me to format this response.

  • Normally, persistent filters (slicer/filter selections) should be saved when a user interacts with a report — filters/slicers are retained between sessions.

  • But when you view the report via a Power BI App, many users report that slicer selections reset on browser refresh — i.e. persistence does not work in App mode. this is “by design” (or a limitation).

Conclusion: In a Power BI App, slicer selections generally do not persist after a browser refresh — this appears to be expected behavior (or at least a known limitation), not a bug you can fully fix using settings.

@suhayl_qodirov  Try republishing the report by having the preselected values in the slicer and check if you are still facing the same ?

App as in Power BI App created from a workspace, or App as in Power BI Mobile App on a phone?

App created from a workspace.
