Sign Up for PowerBi without work or school email
Hi,
May i check if the "onmicrosoft" email account created with the method quoted below can still be continued to use even after I cancel my Office 365 or Microsoft 365 trial?
"You're unable to sign up for Power BI with your personal email address. You can still try out Power BI and Fabric with either an Office 365 or a Microsoft 365 trial. During the sign-up process, you create an "onmicrosoft" email work account. Use that new work account to sign up for the Power BI service and get a Fabric free or Power BI Pro license. Continue to use that work account even after you cancel your Office 365 or Microsoft 365 trial."
Hi butteredcorn
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.@Gilbert Thanks for your prompt response, In addition to that let me add more insights :
- Yes, you can continue using your "onmicrosoft.com" work account even after canceling your Office 365 or Microsoft 365 trial. However, it's important to note that there will be some limitations.
- You will still be able to sign in to Power BI and other Microsoft services that offer a free tier or Fabric (free) access, such as Power BI Free or trial versions. This means you can continue to use Power BI for basic functionalities without any cost.
- However, you will lose access to premium features that require a paid or trial license, such as Power BI Pro, Fabric capacity features, and other Microsoft 365 services like Exchange and Teams. Additionally, any services tied to your trial subscription, such as Word, Excel online, and Outlook, will stop functioning once the grace period expires.Hope this helps !

To get an 'onmicrosoft.com' account, you just need to sign up for a Microsoft 365 subscription—like a Business or Enterprise plan.

Hi butteredcorn
As far as I'm aware that should look like it will continue to work, but to be safe, I would always recommend keeping the account active just to ensure that you don't run into any unknown issues.
