Sharing to a Customer - Pro Premium or do I need Embedded
Help!
My current need and use case:
Consulting analysts sharing insights with customers using PowerBI.
- Some customers have O365 others may not.
- Customers that have O365 may not have fiber enabled with PowerBI free checked
- Running short of time to deliver a PBI embedded portal
Is there any way I can leverage the PBI Premium accounts I have to deliver the dashboard link to a non-domain customer right now.
I have looked over licensing 10x and I get the offering terms. What I don't get exactly is the need for a F64 instance to share with non-licensed PowerBI users.

Yes, you are right when you activate the Fabric Trial (FT1), it gives you temporary access to Premium capacity (F64 level), which is why your external users can view the reports without needing a Pro license. That’s expected behavior and is mentioned in Microsoft docs too.
So long as your reports are in a Premium workspace, and users are either in your org or added as guests (via Entra B2B), they can view it using just a Free Power BI license.
But once the trial ends, you will need to either:
Go for F64 (Premium) gives full sharing power but is expensive.
Use Power BI Embedded (A SKUs) cheaper (~$750/month) but needs dev setup.
Add external users as guests and share via Premium workspace Free license works here too.

Even with a premium capacity external users still need a pro license to view reports shared with them from your tenant. The only exception to this I am aware of is Publish to Web but this is not secure (open to everyone). If you get a premium cap[acity your external users could get free trial pro license for 60 days to buy you time to get an embedded portal up and running.

This is my current plan but man the whole thing sucks. The licensing changed recently. There's ambiguity and small firms like mine don't have a budget for the 5k/mo solution for a product that it would seem should be pushed by MS and create huge adoption. Make money on volume.

Here is a question I don't love to ask but will because I am in a crunch.
If i have a URL generated to place this URL as an embeded link within a sharepoint page, thus enabling it for display there. Can an external user see the page and the dashboard after authenticating though Sharepoint.
Are you saying that like HTML source, a person that can/could see the Sharepoint page and dashboard could swipe the URL and send it to users?

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
So, even if you add the Power BI report link inside a SharePoint page, and an external user opens that page, they still need proper Power BI access either a Pro license or access through your Premium capacity to see the report. Just logging into SharePoint is not enough.And yes, technically if someone can open the SharePoint page and see the report, they can copy the report link and share it. But if the person they share it with doesn’t have access, they’ll see a permission error they won’t be able to view the report. So, SharePoint doesn’t remove Power BI security that part still works as usual.
