Sharing reports via Power Bi App

Hello Community -  Our tenant is a high capacity tenant, and we have premium workspaces.

We are trying to use apps to distribute reports - and in particular - sometimes the same report across multiple workspaces.

I've tried the "save a copy" way of adding a report to a workspace, but if any changes get made to the orginal report (created on desktop), then the copy version will not pick those changes up.   I would have to manually do the "save a copy" each time.

In simple terms, how can I publish a report once....and have a duplicate version of it show up in other workspaces  (so that if changes are made and published to the original, the others will also pick up these changes).    And I'm not talking about the data updating, but rather if I added a new visual to the report, I would want all the reports to reflect this.   For example, let's say I have a "quality" report.   I want the quality dept to see that...but maybe also the marketing dept.   They each have their own premium workspace.

  • Hey Anonymous ,

basically, this is not possible out of the box.

You can resolve this by using your own "deployment" pipelines and some (to be precise: a lot) powershell code that gets executed automatically when a report arrives in a "ready-for-production" workspace.

Using AzureDevops and Powershell works smoothly (unfortunately I can't share code).
