Sharing outside my organization

Hello everyone,

This is probably the most basic question someone can ask, but I just can't seem to figure this out. I have read this article, but I don't see the instructions on how sharing works outside of my organisation. When I click the share button on the report in Power BI Service, I see this and no option for external sharing. So how do I go about it?

I have also tried to edit permissions and add the external user as a direct user. But even after adding their email, only my account shows in the list of direct users here:

Please note that I am currently on a free trial of Power BI Pro.

Thank you for your help and guidance.

Hi @abandyopadhyay ,

According to your description, the sharing method is different from that of users inside and outside the organization. There are three licensing options for sharing content with an external user:

I did a test to assign Power BI Pro licenses to external users in the tenant. But they will not be given a license for the tenant. It just allows them to access the content in the tenant that has been shared with them.

Hi @abandyopadhyay ,

I think that you have to be on a PRO license AND you have to have the Admin turn on the external sharing option so that you can share.  OR, you can have the Premium license tenant wide but you indicated you do not have that either.
