Sharepoint Online List - Refresh
Hi Smithy32,
So i presume that files stored on Sharepoint Online are 'auto refreshed' without the need for a pro licence? Therefore the scheuled refresh tab is set to off.
Yes, when the file is on OneDrive, or SharePoint Online, Power BI will synchronize any changes to the file with the dataset automatically about every hour. No schedule refresh is needed in this scenario.
As for data on lists, they require either a manual intervation to refresh or a pro licence to configure a scheudle refresh, i.e. the schedule refresh tab set to on?
In this scenario, a manual/schedule is needed. In order to share your dashboard with other free users, you can either manual refresh your dataset, or set a daily schedule refresh for your dataset. Because only data from a dataset that refreshes more frequently than daily is Power BI Pro content.

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply, i am only just getting round to testing the solution as i've been on leave.
I have a dataset that contains a mixture of csv/excel files & a summary table built into the report. When schedule refresh is set to off, when i update the csv/excel files nothing happens unless i click on 'Refresh Now' on the dataset. I left this for 5 days and nothing updated.
I have another report similar to the above that also contains sharepoint online data. When i set the refresh schedule to weekly, power-bi is still clasifying the content as pro. Not quite sure why? I know this as when i go to share the dashboard there is a notification telling me that 'This dashboard contains Power BI Pro content. Only users that have Power BI Pro will have access to it'.
Not sure what to do now...
