Hey all;
Hoping for some more insight into this process. I currently have a small dashboard that I have set to refresh on change. It actually seems to work great within my account. Both at the desktop level, and through the browser. The report I've created is updating on change, and the dashboard that's been created off that report is also updating as it should.
However, I've shared the dashboard with another general user for office display and dashboard on that account is not updating like the rest.
Is there a delay from the shared user prospective? what should I expect for update interval on the shared user(s) when I share out dashboards?
Hi @Gumberculeez ,
One possibility is that there is a delay in the data refresh for the shared user, depending on the storage mode and refresh type of your dataset. If your dataset is in Import mode, you need to configure a scheduled refresh or manually refresh it to see the updated data. You can set up the data refresh up to every 15 minutes if you want to keep the data up to date. If your dataset is in DirectQuery mode, you can enable automatic refresh to query the data source every 15 minutes or less. If your dataset is in LiveConnect mode, you don't need to refresh it because it queries the data source with every user interaction.
To ensure that shared users are receiving updates, try asking shared users to refresh their browsers or manually refresh to see if updates are displayed.

Thanks for this. It's been an interesting test over the past few days. There is a clear difference between the way reports are handled over dashboards.
Sharing the report will reflect the auto updating every two mins (as set in the master report). However, the dashboard will only update on that 15 min schedule you spoke of.
Best way to share reports and dashboards is through Apps. Is it your case?
