Share Power BI Report with Free Users

Hello,

I am a pro licence user, my organisation does not have premium capacity, but we use office365.

I am looking to share dashboards with free licence users.

Below are the options I have to share the report.

I understand that I need the publish to web option so free users can view it. However, as you can see, I don't have this option.

How can I enable this option? Do I need to contact the Power BI admin for my organisation?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Publish to web is supported for the vast majority of data sources and reports in the Power BI service. However, the following kinds of reports aren't currently supported or available with Publish to web:

  • Reports using row-level security.
  • Reports using any Live Connection data source, including Analysis Services Tabular hosted on-premises, Analysis Services Multidimensional, and Azure Analysis Services.
  • Reports using a shared dataset that is stored in a different workspace from the report.
  • Shared and certified datasets.
  • Reports shared to you directly or through an organizational content pack.
  • Reports in a workspace in which you aren't an edit member.
  • "R" and Python visuals aren't currently supported in Publish to web reports.
  • Exporting data from visuals in a report that has been published to the web.
  • ArcGIS Maps for Power BI visuals.
  • Q&A for Power BI visuals.
  • Reports containing report-level DAX measures.
  • Single sign-on data query models.
  • Secure confidential or proprietary information.
  • The automatic authentication capability provided with the Embed option doesn't work with the Power BI JavaScript API. For the Power BI JavaScript API, use the user owns data approach to embedding.

With sharing, whether you share content inside or outside your organization, you need a Power BI Pro license. Your recipients also need Power BI Pro licenses, unless the content is in a Premium capacity.

Hello,

For some reason the Publish to web option has now appeared, not sure why when I did not change anything in the dashboard...?

But thank you anyway, good to be aware of the Publish to web restrictions.

Warm regards.

Hello,

I have a licence pro but do not have the Share Option you are showing.

The only share option is sending an email. Below is the picture of what I get when I click on Share.

How did you get those options?

Thank you,

I can see that you have an option as website or portal, that is the option for publish to web.

Please go ahaed with that.

Hello,

I tried that option, but because it is an embed code it asks free users to sign up to a pro licence. Once the user clicks "not now" they can't see the report, it does nothing.

Do you have any other suggestions?
