I am trying to set up a connection between Power BI service and a on-premise SQL server using an express route but I could not find any threads or links that provides documentation on how to configure the same. I have few questions related to that if someone can enlighten me.
1) First thing, Can we user Power BI service to connect to on premise data sources using express route?
2) If Yes, Do I still need a gateway installed on premise to configure the express route?
3) If gatway is to be installed, how does that connect to express route on the SQL server side?
4) What are the tenant requirements and settings on Power BI service to ensure that connection is through express route only.
5) If you have any documentation that is specific to setting up Power BI service (app.powerbi.com) to express route then please share.
I have checked all the blogs but unable to understand how this connection works in real life.
