Service - Paginated reports error Session Expired
- 1 year ago
HI raima ,
As you stated, an "inactive" browser will timeout after 10 minutes.
I found a couple potential workarounds taht you can try.1. The least likely one in my mind - change the browser settings timeout. That may not do much though as it is the data, not the browser that is going inactive.
2. Another one that is worth a try is to go to your Power Platform Admin center, go to the Privacy and Security area and then modify Session Expiration and Inactivity Timeout. That might work.
3. In the report itself, you could set up Automatic Page Refresh. While that might work to keep the report "active" this might not be a great solution if the report takes a while to render.
Automatic page refresh in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft LearnLet us know if any of these help!
I am experiencing the same issue and it is specific to paginated reports. The overall Power BI session doesn't expire, just the report. So, it doesn't require the user to re-authenticate. It just refreshes the page. I don't understand the purpose of this behavior.
My user base is frustrated by the 10 min timeout and having to select all of their parameters again. They are not used to this behavior since PBI reports (non-paginated) do not timeout after 10 mins.
Is this specific to direct query? All of my non-paginated reports use import but the paginated report uses direct query.
We are just going to switch from PowerBI Report Server to PowerBI Service. On the report server this has not been a problem.
On PowerBI Service this also happens to all of our paginated reports - these reports directly query the data source via an ODBC connection.
It is just unfortunate that there is no suitable solution.
